children's ministry

Compass believes that teaching the gospel in the context of loving and joy-filled relationships helps to lay the foundation of a child’s union with Christ. We want children to experience the love of God and the love of trusted adults each week at CompassKids.

Deut.
6:5-7

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

NURSERY & Preschool

Parents of infants through preschool can check their children in at our CompassKids ministry station (in the hallway to the left of the Sanctuary). During both our Sunday School time at 9:30 AM and our worship service at 10:45 AM, we provide God-centered, age-appropriate learning in a fun and safe environment.

Our volunteers play games, sing songs, share a Bible story, and, during nice weather, play outside with the children in our enclosed playground. Infants through preschoolers who come for the Sunday School time can stay in the classroom through the transition to the worship service. Those who come only for the worship service may begin check-in starting at 10:30 AM.

We offer Sunday School for elementary children (Kindergarten-5th grade) at 9:30 AM. Parents can check their children in at our CompassKids ministry station. Our elementary Sunday School classroom is downstairs, and our greeters can direct you to this location. During this time, teachers will present a Bible lesson through engaging activities and in-depth discussion.

Following Sunday School, parents pick up their children from their classroom. Children remain with their parents as the worship service begins and throughout the congregational singing. Before the sermon begins, children will be dismissed to join teachers at the back of the Sanctuary who will escort them to the Youth Room for Children's Church. During the remainder of the service, children will receive a Bible lesson, have a snack, and participate in either a craft or game. Please sign your child in each week before the worship service begins on the clipboard by the doors at the back of the Sanctuary.

Participation in Children’s Church is completely optional; children are welcome to stay with their parents throughout the entire worship service. If you choose to have your children stay with you, we have activity boxes at the back of the Sanctuary with coloring, small crafts, and fidgets that your child can borrow.

our Curriculum

CompassKids uses The Gospel Project curriculum in our classrooms. This program points to Jesus in every lesson as we chronologically journey through the entire Bible in three years.

care & safety

We place a high priority on your child being safe and comfortable in our care. All CompassKids volunteers are carefully vetted, go through a national background screening, and receive regular training on child safety. We practice the two unrelated adult policy, meaning that a child will never be left alone with an adult.
